At some point I lost the ability to use Search in Mac Mail on my iMac. I can still use on my laptop and phone. I have tried all the recommendations to fix this but I assume I have inadvertently change a setting somewhere.

If you're searching properly, the next step would be to try rebuilding your mailbox: Rebuild mailboxes in Mail on Mac - Apple Support. Note this takes a while, depending on the number of emails you have. Please allow it to finish redownloading all emails (assuming yours is an IMAP
If rebuilding the mailbox(es) doesn't produce results, the next step would be to reindex Spotlight on your Mac: Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

I can usually go to the search box in mail and start typing in a name and it will bring up all emails from/to that name...or a subject or a date. It no longer is able to search?
no error, just does not pull up or find anything
Can you describe exactly what you're clicking on and any error message you get when trying to search Mail?
Just to rule out the obvious....are you clicking on the Search icon (magnifying glass) before typing in your search criteria?
Thank you I will try the rebuild. ...an yes I click on the search and this has worked for 3 years but all of the sudden stopped.

Sadly no recommendations working so far.
Mine hasn't worked at all since Sonoma upgrade. Works fine on iPad and iPhone
