Follow. the steps in the support document you posted from make sure its compromised and try to recover it if you still want to use it.
If you need to delete the entire account, see the following support document.
Do note, any purchases or downloaded apps made with that ID will no longer be accessible once you delete the Apple ID, and any devices signed into the Apple ID may no longer be usable, unless you sign out of the Apple ID on said devices before you have it deleted.
