Read Receipts Randomly Turn Off

I have read receipts on for someone and randomly they will turn off and not show that I’ve seen a message until the person send me another iMessage…. I am not turning them off and when I look at settings they are still toggled to “on”. Why does this keep happening? I have the newest update for IOS, and I even bought a new phone! Is it a virus attached to my Apple ID? I don’t know what else to do. HELP!

Hi Mgmiller94,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! Since the issue continues to occur after updating the software, we suggest restarting your device to see if it persists. Although simple, a restart can fix many issues:

  1. "ress and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

-Restart your iPhone

If it continues, we suggest contacting Apple Support to look into this further.

Cheers!
