Removing a device to set up a recovery account
If I remove a device to set up a recovery account how does that effect the removed device and can I add it back

Removing a Device:
Was this device used to set up your Recovery Key? The device is not affected. But, it would be wise to add another device to your Apple Account, If you were to remove this computer. Without it, you cannot use it for Account Recovery: Set Up an Account Recovery Contact - Apple Support
