Deleting Calendar invitee suggestion

When I create a new event and add invitees, I often get a suggestion for a person I do not know. This person is not in my contacts. I don't appear to have any email from them. I must have had contact with them at some point but I don't know who they are, nor do I expect I will have contact with them again. Unlike with Mail, where you can simply delete suggestions, right clicking/deleting does not work.

I have Googled this and found lots of people with the same issue, but have not seen a solution. Picture below for clarification. Julian (JJ) is my husband who I want to be the first suggestion.

Hello katejig,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. We see you are seeing Calendar events that you cannot remove. These may be part of a subscribed Calendar. To attempt to remove it, please follow the steps below.

Delete spam calendars and events on iPhone - Apple Support

"How to remove calendar spam on your iPhone in iOS 14.6 or later

  1. Open the Calendars app.
  2. Tap the unwanted Calendar event.
  3. Tap Unsubscribe from this Calendar at the bottom of the screen.
  4. To confirm, tap Unsubscribe. "

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
