Playing music from flash drive.

I purchased a new MacBook Air 15, and am having great difficulty with migrating files from my PC and also installing iTunes so that I can listen to my own files copied from my own CDs. I left migration running overnight but in the morning there was still 54 hours to go, so I cancelled. A lot of files were copied but I can’t find them.

Concerning iTunes the download has been running for over an hour but it still says “Preparing to download”. Any help would be appreciated. I have an iPad and iPhone so I thought it would be easy!
