I get a robotic audio glitch every few seconds only on FaceTime calls with my iPhone. My AirPods passed a sound test when I brought them in for physical support. They are on the latest firmware, I’ve tried resetting the AirPods, and my iPhone is running the latest iOS. Is there any resolution to this?
I’m having this issue as well with brand new AirPods is there no solution???

If you have confirmed your iOS version is 16.6, your next step will be to Contact Apple Support to look into the issue further.

I am on iOS 16.6. I already contacted apple support and they were unable to help. The support rep did not know anything about the issue and could not provide any advice. I am past the return period for my AirPods after waiting through multiple support calls and an in person service appointment, none of which gave any help besides saying they didn’t know about the issue. I’m currently out $250 with broken airpods and no way to return them. Do I have any recourse here?

If the issue happens only with your AirPods no matter which device you pair with or app used, it would indicate an issue with the AirPods. We'd advise to contact Apple Support again or take them in to a physical location to have them re-evaluated.

This only happens when using my AirPods on my iPhone and only on the FaceTime app. The AirPods passed all diagnostic checks already. This seems like a problem with FaceTime, potentially just on iPhone 11. This also did not happen on the same iPhone when I was using the gen 1 AirPods Pro, but they had the known sound defect and apparently I’m not eligible for replacement on those so I upgraded to the gen 2.
I have exactly the same with airpod2 pro 2 with facetime calls (hearing noise every few seconds) I have reported to apple several time, they replace the airpods and same problem . This is a common issue with apple and they didn’t really support more through apple care because no solution till they know and issue new firmware. What I realized after many trials including resetting phone and airpods ( with no solution) and also tried all the ideas shown in other posts ( put silent, mute the mice during calls,..etc) that the only case that reduce the noise are below
1- ensure that no other app open in background except facetime during the call.
also
2- using 4g instead of wifi
try and if any has other solution he can suggest but other that normal official troubleshouting steps because all not working
