Kindle text-to-speech doesn't work on Ventura 13.4.1

Kindle used to read books allowed, using the text-to-speech tool. With Ventura, it's not working. It "starts," but no sound is produced. I have a dyslexic child that needs this tool for accessibility. This is very important for him to use with books from the library. The spoken content feature for the MacBook doesn't work with the Kindle, either. Can this be considered an urgent issue, since it's an accessibility issue?
