ios gmail app doesn't search trash

When I use the search feature in my Iphone gmail app, no results are returned from trash. How do I get the search feature to return results from the trash folder?

No Trash in Mail I use the Mail app to manage 6 email accounts. After updating my iPhone 11 to iOS 16.1.1 I noticed one gmail account has no Trash box. If I send an email to Trash it comes back to the Inbox. The only way to get rid of it is to send it to Junk. Is there a way to add (or restore) the Trash box?

Is it a taboo subject to ask iPhone-related questions on Google platforms and this is the reason why I can't even find features as basic as plain text search in a message being composed in the Gmail app for iPhone, can anyone comment on that a little bit, please? Shouldn't it be the duty of iOS to provide such a plain text search feature over all apps on iPhone? Recent attachments won’t open in iOS mail search Previously in iOS mail, tapping on the search bar would show recent searches and also recently received document attachments. Especially handy to check a weekly roster. Since upgrading to iOS 17, the recent attachments still show but can’t be opened or interacted with in any way. The email account is a gmail one but was working fine before iOS 17. Anyone else have the same issue or aware of a fix?

you have to include this in your search string; label:trash
