iPad Pro m1 getting frozen on edit Screenshot

I have absolutely no clue how my son keeps doing it, but it’s occurring DAILY now and completely renders the iPad useless until I completely drain the battery. I put it into guided access so he cannot get out of the Disney app but recently he has somehow gotten in into an edit screenshot tab and it completely freezes and touch doesn’t work or anything. You can still click the power button but it just makes the screen turn off or back onto the frozen screen. You can disable guided access too, but it does nothing in area of benefit to touching the screen again. It just completely locks you out and will not work at all… WHATS HAPPENING?

I had the same thing happen to me today. I used one of the methods to get a hard reset. After that, I went it to the settings and under the general tab there is a category called gestures. Turn off allow finger to swipe from corner. Hopefully that will stop the problem in the future.

Have you tried doing a force restart on your iPad? This will not cause any data to be lost on the iPad.

To do this

  1. Press and release Volume Up Button
  2. Press and release Volume Down Button
  3. Press and Hold Siri/Lock Button

Continue to hold the button till you see the Apple Logo show up on the screen. If you see a slider to turn the power off, ignore this slider and continue to hold the button. Once the screen turns off and you see the Apple Logo then you can release the button and allow the iPad to boot as normal. At this point you should be able to use the device as it will not be frozen anymore. If you want to test if this corrected the issue with the screenshots causing it to freeze, try taking another screenshot and see if this corrects the issue.

Hello Bleezii,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are having an issue with your son getting the iPad into screenshot mode and then it is unresponsive. Since you mentioned that the iPad is in Guided Access when this happens, see if disabling the Top button and Volume buttons in Guided Access helps with your situation:

"Start a Guided Access session
1. Open the app you want to use.
2. Turn on Guided Access using Accessibility Shortcut.
3. Circle any areas of the screen you want to disable. Drag the mask into position or use the handles to adjust its size.
4. Tap Options, then turn on or off any of the following:
* Top Button
* Volume Buttons
* Motion (to prevent iPad from switching from portrait to landscape or from responding to other motions)
* Keyboards
* Touch
* Time Limit
11. Tap Start."

And that info is from this Apple resource: Use Guided Access on iPad - Apple Support

Cheers!
