Why can't I remove myself from a group text?

Being added to a group seems hard to undo. I want to get out of some conversations and am willing to do whatever it takes . Thanks

If the group message has people using both iMessage (blue) and SMS (green), you can't be removed from it. You will need to ask the people in the group to start a new one without you.

Meanwhile, you can mute the alerts from the conversation by going to the main conversation page in Messages. Put your finger on the conversation you want to mute and pull to the left. Tap the icon with the purple bell.
