Why is apple tv so dark on iPad pro it’s near impossible to watch.
I’ve tried
uninstalled and reinstalled the app
set brightness to max
turned night shift on/off
iOS 16.6

Nothing about other hardware items is relevant.

I have exactly the same problem on my 6th Gen iPad Pro. AND on my 1st Gen M1 Macbook Pro.
It seems like they filmed these and produced them to show in dark dark large screen theaters, and gave no thought at all to seeing them on their own devices.
Even then the directoral decisions favor extremely dark scenes. Many shows are as you note - completely unwatchable as a result.
No combination of settings changes, or resets that I have tried has done anything to change that.
If anyone has a clue about how to increase the brightness by about a factor of 10, that would be good.
It works on my iPad. A forced restart isn’t on your list of what you tried, so try that

BTW - if it makes a difference, I am very blue light sensitive and use dark mode. I prefer darker scenes. But these are absolutely ridiculously dark. So dark in fact that in some scenes the display has cloudy areas of dark where the display cannot even handle the low light levels.
