Accessibility spoken content speak screen not pronouncing words right

This started happening to me also on my iPad Pro 12-9 inch (4th Gen) after updating to iOS 16.6. It is driving me crazy! I listen to books via the Kindle app daily. I hope someone posts a solution soon.

Same problem and it just started today.

I use this feature everyday to read books with kindle app.

it is basically slurring words together and ignoring punctuation. Also huge mispronunciations of basic words.

I’ve shut down my phone twice and checked my settings. Nothing helps. I am not having this issue with my IPad Air running the same IOS 16.6

Aha! I think the problem is the Kindle app update from today with iOS 16.6! I figured this out by using Spoken Content to read several things in a Safari browser window. (Reads perfectly there.) So, I’m going to give the Kindle App developer a few days to fix it before trying to report it to them.

I think issue is with Kindle version 6.84.0.100 their latest update. My iPhone updated to that version and I hear the mispronouciations when voice reads a kindle book to me. Makes a story hard to follow/understand. But if I listen to same book reading on my iPad which still uses Kindle 6.83.0.100 the pronunciations are fine. Problem however is Apple App Store won’t allow downloading previous kindle app until this gets fixed. Any way around this slow fix by Kindle?

Update for my issue: I finished the book I was having trouble with and downloaded the next book in the series through kindle and the issue stopped.

there was no problem with the problematic book in my IPad Air with the same operating system.

After installing upgrade version 6.85.1.0 thru App Store mine works as well as it did before. It was alway humorously imperfect but understandable. I always make sure my phone is locked (right vertical swipe, then click the red lock symbol) . I think this keeps the gyroscope from interfering with reading text. It enables me to put the phone in my pocket when I take a walk and listen through my headphones. Sometimes, however, it does stop at the end of the first page, and I just have to restart the reading again and let it get past that first page and it’ll keep going.

Ok so it is sept. 3 and the problem with the kindle app and spoken content still isn’t fixed. Can you give an approximate date it will be fixed.?

It is fixed now. There has been an update to the app and now I can listen again!

Ok kindle app , spoken content is better but doesn’t alway progress to next page . What can I do about that?
