With iOS 16, the Speak Screen feature is inconsistent. It will read some words and phrases but not others. With the Kindle for iOS app and Apple Books app, the audio randomly cutes out, but the reading continues. It jumps back in 3-10 seconds later. If you start the screen-page over, it always skips the same spots.

I’m having the same issues. It used to work flawlessly, but with new iOS updates, it skips a lot of words. Apple needs to review and fix this issue.

Same issue. Have even reset to factory settings to try to fix it. I hope Apple fixes this, as it’s a very important feature for accessibility.
I have the same problem. I used to love it for listening to online stories and now I’m lucky if I can get it to come on at all, forget about it staying on.
I also noticed that it usually doesn't work if I swipe down from the top of the screen in portrait mode but if I swipe in landscape mode when trying to read read a news article in my browser, it works. But it's still skips words/phrases.
This has gotten very aggravating.
