FIDO Security Key

👋 Hi! I use a security key to protect my iCloud account. That means I don’t need to generate a 28 digit code to change my password and select a contact person in case I forget or loose my code right? So if someone tried to change my password they would need to have my security key 🔐 to do so right?

also if you have any other tips for security I’m ears.

Hiding apps on my phone is also something I would like to do. I know you can do that with a PC but not an iPhone. Just trying to be as safe as possible after being hacked.

I’m all new to this so I appreciate your help. Thank you! 😊

Hi there, when you use Security Keys for Apple ID, you need a trusted device or a security key to:

  • Sign in with your Apple ID on a new device or on the web
  • Reset your Apple ID password or unlock your Apple ID
  • Add additional security keys or remove a security key

Note that the "trusted device" language means that if someone knew your iPhone passcode and had physical access to your device, they could still change your Apple ID password under Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security without your security keys. They will also have access to all your passwords stored in your iCloud Keychain under Settings > Passwords.
