It is really hard to say with liquid. Components can dry out if it is water and eventually work.
Any other liquid is fair game. Salt or sugar in water can transmit electricity.
I have also for what its worth seen condensation form inside my iMac G5, and not from being near any source of water. But water damage being what it is, unless you buy AppleCare Plus, it is very difficult to justify that it wasn't accidental, and not be billed the full amount for that.
Knowing the Phillippines to be a very moist climate I have to wonder if to prevent future problems, putting a dehumidifier in your home will help.
Use the external display if that works. Unfortunately credit cards only give you a maximum of 2 months of dispute time. So if you are beyond that, you may find yourself wanting to only buy used or refurbished Macs until such time you can afford a newer one.
