Libre Office (LO), ver. 7.4.7, downloaded from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice , does not install on my new MacBook Air.
I downloaded the Apple and Intel versions. Nada.
I’ve used LO on Macs and PCs for years with no trouble.
The Apple Store offers it for about $8.99. Did Apple intentionally block installation of the file downloaded from LO’s website?
What am I not understanding?

Apple hasn't blocked installing LibreOffice from the LibreOffice website.
The macOS (Apple Silicon) version would be the one you need for a new MacBook Air.
If you don't get more help her, you may be able to find help in their forum https://ask.libreoffice.org/tag/forum
Which version? The "slightly older" stable version or the "newer version" for "enthusiasts"?
If for production work, get the older version. It's the newest of the sable versions and completely out of Beta.
