Why I am unable to view a show on Apple TV ?

I can't view any shows. Just says "unable to play. There's a problem playing this video. Try again or troubleshoot the issue ". I try to troubleshoot then it says "unable to connect". But I can watch all the trailers for the shows. They just charged my card for my subscription so it's not that I'm not paying for it.

Edit to add. I've had Apple TV app for years on both TVs. I've never had this problem until a few weeks ago. I went to watch a show and got that memo. I could watch other Apple movies/shows without a problem but many of "my shows" had that weird error message. Now I can't watch anything in my living room on the apple app.

Same. This has been happening for the past couple months whenever I try to watch Apple TV shows at night on my TCL Roku TV. The same shows will stream fine during the day. I've troubleshot, restarted, reinstalled, signed out, changed Apple ID password, restarted router, moved router to improve WiFi, and bandwidth tested >220 Mbps at the TV from my Gigabit 1000 Mbps Xfinity Internet.


None of my other streaming channels have any issues, just Apple TV.

For Roku:


Another user (mygreensocks) suggested this procedure from Roku Support staff, which reportedly helped several users.

1. Remove the Apple TV app,
2. Shut off and unplug the TV (or streaming device),
3. Wait 30 seconds,
4. Plug the TV (or streaming device) back in,
5. Reload the Apple TV app.


Else try the Network Connection Reset, as mentioned by user Jarieta.
