Stuttering static audio

I’ve got an Apple TV 4K with Ethernet 128Gb. The Apple TV app and Music app when media is playing, produce a rapid stuttering static sound. However when I use Netflix and YouTube the audio is fine.

I just got it to stop doing this by going to this in the AppleTV menu: Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format > Change Format (On)

and switching it to Off so that it reads Auto and not Dolby Digital 5.1.

Hi DarthHenry99,

The support article Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV covers options and settings you can adjust to impact sound output for your Apple TV. Choosing a different format or mode may clear this issue up.

As you've noted the behavior is isolated to specific apps developed by Apple, it may be worth checking your port settings to ensure nothing else is sharing use of those.

Per TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products ports 123 (UDP) and 80 (TCP) are used by Apple TV and Apple Music respectively. You may also further isolate this behavior by testing through a wireless connection and using a different network to rule out possible factors or components.

Additionally you may be able to delete those apps and reinstall from the App Store by following Customize the Apple TV Home Screen.

Regards.
