downloaded movie won't play on iphone 14 pro

I recently got a new iphone 14 pro. I downloaded a movie to watch on the plane and tried it out before going on the trip. The downloaded movie won't play through. It pauses and tries to reload but doesn't restart on its own. Another movie, not downloaded, on the googleplay service, played fine, but the downloaded one won't.

I tried to find out what to do online. One suggestion was to do a shutdown and restart of the phone, which I did, but the movie did the same thing.

My old iphone played downloaded movies just fine! :-(
