I removed my air tag and now I cannot add it to my iPhone

Hi, Just went through this with two AirTags, what I did was:

1. Take off the metallic cover with the apple logo.
2. Take out the battery
3. Place it again and without placing the cover, press on the battery and try to move it clockwise while pressing the batter, it makes a sound so you will know the AirTag got the battery.
4. Repeat the third step until you hear a different sound (it took 5 times with one and 9 times with the second airtag)
5. After the different sound it immediately popped on my iphone

You certainly have run the gamut here on possible solutions. Curious to know if the previously connected AirTag still shows under your Apple ID.

It may be worth checking and trying to remove your AirTag from your Apple ID on your iPhone to get your AirTag connected again:

1. Open the Find My app, then tap the Items tab or Devices tab

2. Tap the item or device you want to remove, then swipe up on the handle

3. Tap Remove Item or Remove This Device, then tap Remove to confirm

Did the person you mentioned working with provide you with their contact details? You could always give them a ring or reach back out through Apple's Get Support site.

Based on some posts here, this issue could be caused by using a replacement battery that has a bitterant coating. I suggest that you double-check that yours does not.
