HomePod Setup Failed (300254)

I was having trouble connecting my Kitchen OG HomePod to its Apple TV. Did the unplug - press - red light - three beeps, then, after the 'Setup HomePod' appeared on my iPhone, I went through all the steps and got 'Setup Failed (300254)'.

Got out a HomePod mini to test and it connected to my Kitchen Apple TV as expected. Conclusion: Kitchen HomePod is broken. Fetched down my Bedroom OG HomePod (don't use it much) and did the unplug - press - red light - three beeps, but still got the 'Setup Failed (300254)' on this HomePod (it was connecting fine to the Bedroom Apple TV).

Also completely removed the Kitchen HomePod from the Home app and tried again. Same result.

Apple TVs are connected to router by Ethernet. Two-Factor is on. iCloud Keychain is on. Conclusion: I have no idea what is going on...

Make sure that your iPhone isn't set up to use a private address on your home network. See Use private Wi-Fi addresses on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support for details of how to turn that off. Make sure that your router isn't set to use guest mode or otherwise prevent peer to peer communications.

Well, problem solved: this situation had been going on for months, although everything else connected to the internet was working fine. But, one day, I was having a problem with my Mac Studio not connecting to the web, so I decided to restart my router. After that, all four HomePods started working again…

Problem solved here. I had two different networks running at home. One HomePod mini was tied to the other network. I had to completely switch off the other network to remove and stereo pair it to the first. All working now.
