ICloud Emails Mostly Going Into Junk Folder

My iCloud email account is sending real, and sometimes important, emails into my junk folder. It is the same whether I am looking at my email on the iCloud website, on my iphone or in my Office 365 Outlook app. It is a problem because I am missing important messages and sometimes they don't show up in Junk until a day or two later. How can I change this? Currently, I have to move each mail to the In Box. I'd rather delete junk emails from my in-box than lose them in the junk folder. I could not find anything in Settings. Thank you.

This has been going on literally for YEARS as a very quick search on Google will confirm. I am still getting this problem, it is getting progressively worse, and Apple needs to sort it out. There are two aspects. One is that the junk mail filtering on Macos (regardless of the age of the OS) just does not work properly, i.e. it is buggy, or in plain language a shockingly bad piece of engineering. The other is that people who have phones but not Macs do not seem to have any control at all over junk mail filtering. The advice online from Apple is of the “in order to tie your shoelaces, first bend over” variety, i.e. completely useless in solving this actual problem

Hello PassportPat,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. You can mange the emails that are important to you from the Junk folder to your inbox by following these steps:

Indicate that an email isn’t junk
1. In Mail on iCloud.com, click the Junk folder in the Mailboxes list.
2. Select the message or messages, then do one of the following:
* If you selected one message: Click the Reply, Reply All, Forward button, then click Move to Inbox.
* If you selected multiple messages: Click Mark, then click “Move to Inbox.”

Subsequent messages from the same sender are no longer automatically marked as junk.

Following these steps can help and is outlined in this article: Manage junk mail in Mail on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Now if these steps do not help, we suggest to contact Apple Support. They can review this further for you. Here's the link to contact them: Get Support

Kind regards.
