External CD/DVD drive won't play

My external usb3 CD/DVD drive plays when connected to my M1 MacBook Pro. I'm using OS Ventura. However, when I connect my Mac to my Samsung M360 soundbar using Bluetooth, the CD drive stops playing, and clicking the songs in the Apple Music app gets no response. If I disconnect the soundbar from Bluetooth, the CD/DVD drive spins up and starts playing through the Mac's internal speakers. Not sure what's happening here. Anyone had this problem? No new firmware is available for the soundbar. The drive worked with the soundbar before I upgraded to Ventura. Tried it on a Windows 11 pc, same issue.

I'm having a similar issue. When I play songs in Apple Music on my MacBook, I get sound through my internal speaker as well as my JBL bluetooth speaker, depending on which speaker I have selected in the Apple Music app. However, when I connect an external CD drive to my MacBook to play CDs, the sound works through the internal speaker but NOT the JBL bluetooth speaker. I click to play a track and nothing happens at all. However, I CAN hear CDs through my bluetooth Sony earbuds. I have OS Monterey (which is the last OS supported for my MacBook). Appreciate any thoughts on why this is happening.

I’ve had a similar problem. My external cd player won’t play when my Sony Bluetooth earbuds are connected to my MacBook Air M3. It will play dvds, it will import CDs, but won’t play CDs if my Sony Bluetooth earbuds are connected. The Cd will even stop mid play if I connect. However it will play CDs thru the internal speakers. I don’t have a solution to your question, just sharing a similar incident and hoping someone else has a suggestion.

if it was me then I would probably test with other bluetooth speaker/devices that support a2dp to verify if it was an isolated thing with the soundbar or a general a2dp ting, media copy protected with hdcp is often know to block stuff like airplay and remote desktop and the likes but I've never heard about blocking cd music before, but never really tried it before, I've long since made my cd collection into digital m4v files, which I does not really use much any more with apple music having most of them
