A blue dot just showed up at the top of my watch. Definitely a blue circle and not a water droplet. Watch was just updated to the latest iOS. Does anyone know what it means?

My experience is the blue dot is telling you that you haven't entered your watch's passcode yet.
The Apple Watch User Guide does not document a blue dot. The Apple Watch status icons - Apple Support

Corect. When you take it in the morning blue dot shows until you enter pin first time. The passcode must be turned on
