airdrop name wrong

Hey I had the same issue with my wife’s iPhone. My iPhone name was ok but my device(15 pro max) was showing with her name even if she airdrops me, I still receive files. So I went to my card via Contacts app and just updated again my phone number. My airdrop name instantly changed on her device(13 pro max) to the correct one. Hope it helps.

Did you try a restart after setting the name at Settings > General > About > Name?

Without revealing personal information, is the name that is showing in Airdrop a device name or user name?

Is the name that is showing the same name that is at the top of your Contacts list that is titled "My Card"? If that is the wrong name, you can tap on it, then edit the contact information.

Are both devices using the same Apple ID?

Any insight on whether the name is another name from your contacts or an alias that has been associated with your Apple ID?

If the Airdrop setting on the iPhone is set to Contacts only, then it must be a name associated with one of the Contacts.
