SD Card photos don't show in Photos app

I have photos on my SD card and connect it to the Photos app via a card reader. The card mounts and shows up under "Devices", but in the Import screen, it says "No Photos". I go to the desktop and open the SD card there, and drill down a couple of folders and there are the two photos (and I can then drag them to the Photos Library). It seems that Photos is not recognizing the card properly. Other cards from similar devices are no problem. Any suggestions to getting them to show up?

Yes, I am using a Mac. 13.4.1. There is no SD slot in this Mac mini, I am using an adapter. I am using a SanDisk 128 High Endurance Micro SD. The adapter works as it shows up in the list of devices, but still shows "No Photos". On the desktop, the photos are indeed inside the SD card. I have used the same SD card with photos taken from a different drone, and they show up in the Photos app. The last thing I want is for SanDisk to say it is the drones fault, the drone maker to say it is an Apple problem and Apple to say it's a card problem. It seems if the files will show up on the desktop, and can be dragged into Photos and I can view them, they should just show up inside Photos and be downloadable.

Hello jameykey,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're using a Mac, is that right? If so, let's ensure that you're using a supported card for the SDXC card slot. Here's a list of the supported cards:

Supported cards
Your SDXC card slot supports the following cards:
* MMC
* Default Speed
* High Speed
* UHS-I
* UHS‑II (Mac Studio introduced in 2022 or later, MacBook Pro introduced in 2021 or later, iMac introduced in 2020, and iMac Pro only)
To use smaller cards such as MiniSD and MicroSD, use an adapter:

Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) cards are not supported. Avoid using cards that are thicker than 2.1mm, as they might damage the SD card slot if you try to insert them.

This information is outlined in this article: Use the SD and SDXC card slot on your Mac - Apple Support

Now if you are using a supported card, the next step is to contact Apple Support. They'll be able to review this further. You can contact them by using this link here: Get Support

Kind regards.
