Locked iphone 14 pro with Carrier as iphone 54.0

I bought this "new-in-box, unlocked iphone 14 pro" online (I know!) It's supposed to be unlocked but it's not. Now I'm stuck with a 1400.00 brick with 1T of space. I'm trying to go about unlocking thru various websites but I don't even know who it's locked to. It says: Carrier - iPhone 54.0. Who do I tell them it's locked to? Is it even "unlockable"? Any advice is appreciated.

This would have been perfectly fine … if the seller were Apple or an Authorized Apple Retailer. (Of course, if that were in fact true, you could simply exchange the iPhone!)

Are you able to go to Settings > Cellular and get a clue there?

Thanks for your reply. I was told after I bought it that it would work on a T-Mobile network. (Mint included) I took it to T-Mobile and they couldn't do anything with it because it says "iPhone 54.0" in the carrier field.

I currently have Spectrum on my old phone and I'm not able to do an eSIM transfer (not supported). Not sure what to do with it now. Expensive iPhone camera I guess.

So the seller deceived you. Exchange or refund the iPhone with the seller.

Yes. I've tried that route. Unfortunately, that option is off the table. They've been arrested and although that may be good for other future buyers, it doesn't open my phone and I'm still out a significant amount of money. My stupid, costly mistake. I'll use it as a camera for now.
