You do not say if this is an old issue, a new issue or what has changed...

can you clarify the "approximately 20-30 part. "

A random issue is very hard to diagnosis...

If you have all notifications turned off , then it tells me it is not a notification sound.

Without more to go you are in the best position, to observe and try an identify the correlation.

I tried that. The other day was not able to login, even with the correct password. With the support of Apple, we changed it to a new password and tried to login, with the same results, so we reset the MacBook to factory settings and started again. This time the new password works fine but the sound still comes through randomly and is annoying when I'm watching a movie or working. There are 2 different sounds and I cannot tell you what they sound like except that sounds like some kind of notification. Should I return this MacBook to Apple. It's brand new, only 4/5 weeks old. I am concerned now that I cannot resolve this.

In the USA you have a limited 14 days to return or exchange if you are not happy with machine for any reason .

After that it falls under your 1-yr warranty repair, covered of course. .

Sound a bit un-nerving that you now throw in the password issue as well...which adds to the backstory.

Take it back. If you are on the record ie had in the for inspection within the original 14-days you might be able to make the case for and exchange— if Apple support can not sort out the on-going issue. You can ask to escalate the issue up the chain of command—only the manager— would have some discretion overriding the stated return policy.

Tier one support will always tell you it can not be done; don't take no for an answer if it comes down to it. The more polite you are the further you will go in your efforts.

I only have my MacBook Air 13" M2 2022 for just over 4 weeks. I updated it to Ventura when I set up from start. There are 2 different sound like some kind of notification but nothing on my screen. I have all notifications turned off.

The sound varies in time. I contacted Apple Support and still waiting from someone to contact me. It also has the latest update. I am unable to record the sound as I will not know when I will hear this sounds. The time between these sounds are not constant in time. There are times I will only hear it once or twice in a 8hr period but at times I hear it more often.

Hard to explain your mystery sounds...

I will say—On new MacBook Air when you start/ boot the machine/reboot the machine when it recognizes power is connected it makes a chime sound.

You can try restarting the machine on battery only and compare your results— then plug it in to test.

or when the machine is on simply unplug it from power and plug it back in and compare your results and eliminate this as one of your sounds...
