I tried that. The other day was not able to login, even with the correct password. With the support of Apple, we changed it to a new password and tried to login, with the same results, so we reset the MacBook to factory settings and started again. This time the new password works fine but the sound still comes through randomly and is annoying when I'm watching a movie or working. There are 2 different sounds and I cannot tell you what they sound like except that sounds like some kind of notification. Should I return this MacBook to Apple. It's brand new, only 4/5 weeks old. I am concerned now that I cannot resolve this.
In the USA you have a limited 14 days to return or exchange if you are not happy with machine for any reason .
After that it falls under your 1-yr warranty repair, covered of course. .
Sound a bit un-nerving that you now throw in the password issue as well...which adds to the backstory.
Take it back. If you are on the record ie had in the for inspection within the original 14-days you might be able to make the case for and exchange— if Apple support can not sort out the on-going issue. You can ask to escalate the issue up the chain of command—only the manager— would have some discretion overriding the stated return policy.
Tier one support will always tell you it can not be done; don't take no for an answer if it comes down to it. The more polite you are the further you will go in your efforts.
