There are reports of freezing, stalling, and overheating on recent MacBook Pros with 4K media, maybe specifically H.265. Is anyone else seeing this and can provide details of the project and media?
If you can revert to an earlier version. Export your events as XML 1.10, especially if the library is very large.
There are quite an unusually high number of bugs in 10.6.7. Avoid if possible. But it's not you, it's 10.6.7 just being super buggy. Pray we get a 10.6.8 really soon. I know several editors who are stuck and can't get work done now.
It's really slammed quite a number of users based on the first reports that came out almost immediately. Others haven't seen the problems at all. The systems seem solid, and the application behaves without any hiccups. It does seem to be restricted to recent systems, perhaps specific machines, probably in the hardware decoders as it's mainly playback issues that are creating the hangs.
I am on a Mac Pro 2019. 10.6.7 and Ventura 13.5. Having terrible playback issues in 10.6.7 even with proxies since the update. Not sure what the next move is to meet my deadlines.

I have an older Mac (non M1 or 2) and HEVC seems OK and stable on playback within FCPro 10.6.7.

I think the problem may be in the onboard processing in the M series machines.
My thought was if there is an HDR connection to the issues??

Thanks Tom. Yeah, I was trying to get on a machine with Big Sur to download something other than 10.6.7 from APP store. No luck yet. How soon do you think it will be addressed out of curiosity?
At least a month from release I would think. Probably more.
I've seen reports from pretty much every Mac - Intel and Apple Silicon. I have no idea what triggers it, although most of the crash reports I've seen seem to be related to Motion's render engine.
This is a disastrous update. Some kind of official communication on it would be nice.
I did a clean install of Big Sur on my laptop, downloaded 10.6.5 brought it into my old iMac with 13.4. So I am up and running and will leave my Mac Pro station until 10.6.7 is fixed.
No need to do that! Just copy 10.6.5 from one mac to the other.
If you don’t have 10.6.5 zipped, the only way to get it from apple is via Big Sur
