iPad twitter app: recent sudden loss of viewable tweets on several accounts, but not all

I have used twitter apps on iPhone (now 14 but also previous models) and iPad Pro for several years. Until recently, ALL accounts read/viewed on both iPhone and iPad, displayed SAME tweets and SAME number of tweets. However, last week that suddenly changed on the iPad app only, for no apparent reason.

For several accounts I read/follow, but not all, the same account viewed on iPhone/iPad twitter app now differ:

  • iPhone app continues to display ALL tweets going way back in time (years sometimes)
  • until recently - iPad app showed SAME tweets, and SAME number of tweets, as iPhone app
  • now - iPad app displays [approx.] 10 most recent tweets of those displayed on iPhone app

However, if I view the same account on the iPad but through a browser (twitter.com) all the same tweets, and same number of tweets, as on iPhone app are displayed.  Likewise, if I view the same account through a browser on iPhone/MacBook, all the same tweets, and same number of tweets, as on the iPhone app are displayed.

It is ONLY iPad twitter app that has changed to show only a few recent/latest tweets for some accounts, but not all, for seemingly no apparent reason.

It cannot be the much talked about restrictions imposed by twitter - otherwise, that would affect iPhone and browser as well as iPad.

Likewise, it cannot be that the accounts showing only a limited number of tweets on iPad app are/may not be verified accounts and therefore limited/restricted – if that were the reason, then such accounts would be limited/restricted across all platforms - iPhone, iPad, and browser.

Something has changed with the twitter iPad app.  But surely, if twitter has changed something, it would affect both apps (iPhone/iPad) and browser alike?

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Can anyone confirm/explain this change and/or offer a solution?

And please, before suggesting the obvious:  yes both devices are running latest iOS; yes both devices are running latest version of twitter app; yes both devices are signed in to same twitter account (and same when using browser); yes both devices have been rebooted; yes twitter account has been signed out/in on both devices; yes no settings have changed on either device; yes settings in both apps are identical; yes twitter app has been deleted from iPad and re-installed from scratch; yes this happened suddenly (5-days or so ago) between successive openings of iPad twitter app, without any changes on/to iPad whatsoever; yes this happens when iPad is connected to iPhone’s hotspot and WiFi; yes this happens when VPN run on iPad connected to a variety of counties; etc. etc……

Hi everyone who has replied - thank you.

Unfortunately, it is still happening for me too. I've found no fix and no one seems to have an answer. I've reached out to X (aka Twitter) - no response whatsoever - there's a surprise!

Until someone in the community, or at Apple, can provide a resolution - I guess we are stuck with it.

@Jess19 - and quite how am I supposed to do that?

The link you provided takes one to the Help Centre, which purports to be "Contact us'. And yet, nowhere in the myriad of help articles is there any means/method to contact Twitter. Furthermore, none of the predetermined help articles are appropriate.

The ONLY way to contact Twitter is seeming through the Twitter @Support account, which is mentioned at the bottom of the above Help page. I sent a message to that account in the first instance, before posting here. My question has, not unsurprisingly, been completely and totally ignored by Twitter.

Hence my post here to see if anyone else has experienced this - which appears to be the case - and if anyone, more open to helping than Twitter, can help?
