Canon LBP 2900 Driver unfound on Mac OS Ventura

Anyone can help to provide a trusted way, even is to patch...

There's so many tutorial online that need to patch here & there to make the lbp2900 work on Mac Ventura, how come Canon or apple couldn't give user a simple installer to install the driver?

Regret to switch over to Mac, Window never had this issue...

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.4

appled never made a single driver for canons printers, nor have microsoft, canon makes the drivers and if provided to apple and microsoft in good time prior to a operating system release are bundled with the operating system, if not the user needs to wait until the manufacturers choose to release a driver if they choose to keep supporting that model of printers

their site suggest canon never made a macOS driver for that model of printer

it's hardly apples fault

you can check if it's supported by the guternberg generic printer driver project

Hi,

Rudegar mentioned that Mac drivers have not been made for this printer. See also the following specifications. Only Windows and Linux are supported.

Results from Search - Apple Community indicate that workarounds may be possible, usually involving a patch. However, be careful! Generally speaking, it is not wise to get files from unknown sites. Always download from a trustworthy source, such as Apple or the printer manufacturer.

If necessary, since CAPT drivers for Linux are available, you could perhaps carry out an experiment with an old (spare) PC running an earlier version of the free Ubuntu. The idea would be to connect the local USB printer to the PC, and then share this printer on a network. Ubuntu uses CUPS and understands Bonjour. Sharing a printer in Ubuntu should just require a few changed settings in the CUPS (web) interface. A Mac connected to the network may be able to see and use the shared printer.
