My MacBook Air M1 Running macOS 13.4.1 Does Not Show Latest Security Updates

How do I work around my MacBook Air not showing the most recent security updates?

Earlier today, I read about the new security updates for macOS 13.4.1. I also saw that there was an update notice under the Apple menu. Later in the day I went to install the updates and the notice for them was gone. I restarted my MacBook Air, but the update notice remained gone. This includes checking under System Settings: General: Software Update... several times. Checking Safari, it remains at the older version 16.5.1. Checking under About This Mac and going to System Report: Software: Installations... there is no indication that the updates took place.

So now what?

Sorry but no, P. Phillips.
I did an OS reinstall last night. No change. No 13.4.1 (a). No Safari 16.5.2.
It reminds me of the occasions when Apple has discovered an update has problems and they've pulled it.
I'll be wearing my stress resistant chainmail and calling Apple 'Support' this afternoon. 🙏

Hum - would not make the effort to call Apple Support

MacRumors (likely others) verified that Apple pulled BOTH the iOS 16.5.1 (a) update AND the macOS 13.4.1 (a) update. The article link is below.

(Amusingly, have to laugh, better than cry, I updated my iPhone 13 to 16.5.1 (a) and discovered the old BLACK Lock Screen bug of infamy. *sigh*)

To share my limited experience with the RSR updates

Just once have I allowed it to be installed and to be more correct, there has been only 1 ASR released in Ventura before this one.

Had zero issue with the 13.3.1(a) installation

But and yes a but.

There after, when using the Terminal Command to check for the Ventura 13.4 ( which was available ) the command would run ok but never find any Full Version of 13.4

It was as if the infamous " Checking for Updates " in the Update Software Applet was looking and looking and never finding them.

That was the only inconvenience I experienced.

IMHO - this RSR is still a work in progress
