Is Catalina OS too old, and incompatible, with M$ Word?

Yesterday, I got this from a M$ chat after inquiring about my new 64-bit Word not working well with my new 64-bit Catalina OS:

Kindly note that the Catalina OS is now old and is not compatible with office applications. Hence, the reason you are unable to print in the word application. To get this to work, you will need to upgrade your mac OS to Big Sur . . . You can just have the[ shop] upgrade the OS, then you can use office apps seamlessly

Thanks, but in response to your answer I downloaded Libre and opened up one of my Word files to find the formatting way off and no section acknowledged somewhat like the screwiness of 64-bit Word in my 64-bit Catalina OS. I can't use it; maybe my girlfriend (she'll get my Mac mini) can.
