Move cursor to end of Safari search bar faster?

The whole URL is highlighted when you tap the Safari search bar. I usually just want to add/remove a word at the end. I’ll hold down space bar and drag my finger towards the right so that move the cursor starts scrolling through the text. But it always stops after a few words! I use the entire keyboard as a trackpad (not just the space bar part). If I jiggle my finger up and down the cursor might move a couple more letters, but it ultimately always stops. Like it hits a wall. Getting it to the end always takes multiple scrolls.

Is there a faster way?

Side question: Can you turn off automatic highlighting in the Safari search bar? I’d rather always have the cursor start at the end, and press the X if I want to erase the entire thing.

Thanks!

Nifty trick from @tama on StackExchange (https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/454200/how-to-edit-the-end-of-the-current-pages-url-in-safari-on-ios):

  1. Select the entire URL.
  2. Cut the URL.
  3. Paste it and the cursor should be at the end of the URL.
