i found a critical detail buried in instructions. You have to be on the same Wi-Fi but if you leave the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth area it can get stuck on the other device. When this happened I would have to power cycle my device to get it to connect. The airplay instructions don’t pop up for my hearing aids to select the output device like it’s supposed to either so this is an oversight by apple - considering this is a connection for a medical device- this oversight is irresponsible by apple.
my work around -
option 1: check that all devices have Bluetooth on and on the same wifi.
Option 2: power cycle device
Option 3: download NordVPN on each device and use the mesh net feature (this is free) and connect all your devices onto the mesh net. This makes it where ur devices are always “on the same network”. Downside is that this will only work for devices that are able to download NordVPN. iPad and iPhone can use NordVPN.
Optional - forget ur hearing aids on both devices and connect in order or how often you use things. The priority seems to be what device paired first so my iPad would steal my connection as default instead of my phone as default.
