how to clear system data

My system data is almost 150 GB. I deleted cache and logs library and only got back 5GB. What is taking all that space and how can I clear it? My mac only has 250 GB so it's weird that so much of the space is taken by "system data."

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6

You can see the big picture from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

diskutil list internal

Look at "Macintosh HD - Data"

Apple use to label it "Other"... now the label is system data

System Data is your user data... do some general house cleaning if you want to free up storage.

cache and logs are simple text files— you are not ever going to gain much there...

cache files make your mac run more efficient and faster access
