My message notifications still appear on my screen but they are now silenced and I have made no changes in the Settings. Message notifications are enabled and I have selected a sound, but now there is now sound. How do I fix this?

Have you double-checked Settings > Focus yet? We recommend checking that out to see if Do Not Disturb or any other Focus modes might be enabled. It's possible that that could result in the behavior you're describing, depending on how the focus was configured.

Hi,
It turns out that the notification is silent only for unknown senders. I used to get an audio signal for unknown senders but now I don't. I"m not sure if I want the audio but I would like to have the option.

Mute notifications for a conversation
1. In the Messages list, touch and hold a conversation.
2. Tap Hide Alerts.
Another way to check if notifications may be muted would be to open the Notification Center by swiping down from the top of your iPhone screen, swipe left only slightly on the message notification to display Options or Delete. From there tap Options, and you should see an option to unmute if the notifications are muted.
