Just bought a new Canon EOS R6 MK II.. and to my bemusement the .CR3 files do not display using preview.
looked up some community chats , but they all seem to go back to 2020, 2021 …I am looking for more recent information as to why this issue presents itself.

I believe Ventura 13.4.1 supports the camera but your iMac does not support Ventura. You can preview and convert the files in XnView, or you could convert them using Adobe DNG Convertor

FWIW, I assume 12.7 was a typo since there is no Monterey 12.7. In any case, RAW files for your camera are not supported in Monterey despite being listed. An Apple faux pas.
yeah - Monterey 12.6.7...
mmmmm...thats dissapointing seeing Mirrorless cameras have been around for a few years now. do you know if RAW are supported by other MAC OS.. My mac is iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Thank you - i am currrently installing DNG converter - will have to go down that path unfortunately.
You're welcome. Personally I prefer XnView for a number of reasons. However, although it can convert the files to any number of formats, DNG is not one of them.
Thank you for your help - it is really frustrating that one cant view thumbnails in Preview directly...oh well we move on and adapt.
