Cannot preview CR3 files in Monterey

I recently bought a Canon R7 and have been shooting in raw, the CR3 image format.

However, I cannot view any of my images in finder on my MacBook Pro (2017) that is running Monterey. My father has the same laptop as me, also on Monterey. When I look at my SD card in his finder I can view all of the images without having to open them in a third party app like on my machine. I can also view my images on my mothers older MacBook Pro without any issues.

Does any one have any ideas as to why my machine insists I open my images in a third party app and I have no problems on other machines running the same software?
