My remote will not charge at all

The relevant difference between gen 2 and gen 3 is the Lightning port on the gen 2 model, and the USB-C port on the gen 3 model. Identify your Apple TV remote - Apple Support


There are no indicators on the remote to show it is charging. You’ll have to look for an increasing battery charge level in Settings on screen.


Charge the Siri Remote as recommended:

  • directly to a computer USB port,
  • or to a power adapter with USB port in an AC socket.

Other USB ports may not be suitable for charging the remote.
