This support document describes how to properly charge the Siri Remote:

The Siri Remote takes about 2.5–3 hours to fully charge.


If the remote was fully charged (as verified in Settings), and looses its charge way too quickly, then Apple has a battery service for that. There may be a fee if not under warranty or AppleCare anymore.
