Why is my step count lower when walking with a stroller?

My Step count whilst walking with the stroller is always lower than if I do the same route without the stroller. I’ve noticed it occasionally goes up into drive mode whilst I use the stroller but surely this isn’t right?

They definitely need to fix this. I get people always reply with that is based on your arm swing a 300.00-700.00 watch shouldn’t need your arm swing only. I’ve noticed Apple is getting a little bit lazy about doing stuff.

I don’t have an Apple Watch, but I do put my phone in the stroller when I walk sometimes and it doesn’t register any steps at all.

Put your iPhone in a pants pocket, and the iPhone accelerometer will sense the back and forth motion of your leg and count steps.

In the stroller, at best it thinks you are on a wheeled device.

You could also get an app, such as MapMyWalk (or similar), and use that during your walk to track your exercise.

@Jackjack_89 @E5els I found the exact same thing and was so frustrated!! So, I decided to build an app myself that helps us accurately track steps while walking with a stroller, and automatically syncs with Apple Health and Fitness Rings :)

Stroller Steps is now available to download on AppStore: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/stroller-steps/id6474574063 Would love for you to try it and lmk what you think!
