Easy to misread the title of the post and think that the OP has an iPhone 12.

I believe the OP told us that......"my ios is 12"......which may mean that he/she has an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus.

Hopefully, we will receive a response from the OP to clarify.

Why can't your iPhone updgrade? What error message do you see?

You can only upgrade to the current version for your device. That would be iOS 16.5.1 for an iPhone 12.

What do you see in Settings>General>Software Update?

Check once more to see that the OP does NOT have an iPhone 12.

They probably have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. Maybe a 5s.
