While sat at my desk today, the +/- volume control lights on my original Homepod suddenly started flashing intermittently.
It was not being used at the time and there was no power supply issue
Tried turning off for 15 seconds, and also tried resetting by holding finger on to for red spinning light but Siri doesn't announce its resetting and the lights simply start flashing again
Any ideas?

You might try unplugging it for over 24 hrs, plug back in and then try the hard reset again. Otherwise there’s not much else you can do once this has happened

To clarify, I was talking about Apple Support and their attitude when I called them. Not these forums or users.
I do realize it wasn’t helpful but there’s no solutions we can offer you to fix it. You can try getting in touch with Apple but the repair cost isn’t worth it as it’s no longer under warranty. Some of them succumbed to failure in this manner. Apple staff are not replying you on here. We just volunteer to help with technical issues on products we’re familiar with. My answer was the truth as best I could provide, I’m sorry this happened.
You are aware that this Community is made up of users - not employees of Apple? Otherwise, Vancouver22 gave you the correct answer. Whether you find the truth dismissive or unhelpful is irrelevant.
