In Ventura, Mac Mail junk mail filtering is behaving badly and unchecking 'Enable junk mail filtering' in settings does not stop the bad behavior. I have no rules that move mail to the junk folder.
At least half the mail that ends up in my junk folder is not junk. Whether I move it to the inbox with drag and drop, from the menu or contextual menu or with the toolbar icon, the message or messages only remain in the inbox momentarily and then return to the junk folder. Round and round we go, me saying "Not junk!" and my mac thinking it is smarter than me and censoring, "No, you don't want to read that, it's junk!", "No, it's NOT junk!!", "junk", "NOT JUNK!!!", "junk", "NOT JUNK DARN IT!!!".
I just want it to STOP - how do I totally disable junk mail filtering?
Mail issues start by turning off the new bells & whistles to get back to terra firma—
Open mail app select Mail>Settings>Privacy disable:
“Protect Mail Activity”
“Hide IP address”
“Block all remote content”
compare your results, reboot if necessary.
Also “Mail Privacy Protection” if no resolve, Mail>Settings>Privacy> uncheck
ref: —Mail Privacy Protection on Mac - Apple Support
Use Mail Privacy Protection on Mac - Apple Support
If no resolve see:
—if you are using Hide My email—try disabling this feature and compare your results...
Set up and use Hide My Email in iCloud+ on all your devices - Apple Support
—if you are using iCloud Private Relay on Mac - Apple Support try disabling this feature and compare your results...
Use iCloud Private Relay on Mac - Apple Support
I have Junk turned off and have a third party Spam filter with no issues, I am sure there are others—
