iMovie Tutorial

I'm struggling to become more competent with iMovie. I think a really thorough tutorial would be helpful. With quizzes. I would really appreciate any recommendations. Of course I've watched some perfectly good YouTube videos, but I would like to find something more thorough and demanding. Thanks.

Thank you. I looked thru the online help menu...and will use it in the future...This may shock readers, but "render" is not a common word in my vocabulary. For those trained in multi-media, it maybe obvious.

"Render unto Caesar" = give....Render a metal by heat= melt....Render a work of art=?.

So, I think the Apple tutorial could be better. There could be an overview description. There could be a table of contents at introduction. There could be vocabulary lists with definitions. All done by a writer using clear language with minimum jargon and sales pitch. Many thanks.

One of the meanings of "render" in layperson's parlance is "to cause to be", as in heavy rains can render floods.

Video rendering "is the process by which a computer system reads information from a source code and then converts that data into something that can be displayed on the screen. The encoded data source contains

instructions to accurately frame images on a web page or play a movie".

I think that you will find the online help menu/tutorial to be helpful.

Render files are created to contain the editing instructions that you have given. This is so iMovie doesn't have to re-render every time you preview or export. Over time, render files can accumulate and start taking up significant space. So, you can delete them to save space, and iMovie will recreate them as necessary when previewing or exporting a project.
