iPad not connecting to MacBook Pro

My iPad (Air 4, iOS 16.5.1) will not connect to my MacBook Pro (13 inch, 2019, Ventura 13.4.1) via bluetooth. I’m trying to connect to use my iPad as a display for illustrator. When I first tried both needed software updates so I assumed that was the problem, but now they are both updated and the problem persists. I tried restarting etc. but no luck so far.

Mac Studio & iPad Pro can’t connect wirelessly for Screen Mirroring Hello, I recently bought a Mac Studio but I’m having problems connecting it with my iPad Pro wirelessly, to use an iPad as a second display, with Sidecar, Screen Mirroring, etc. I assumed each needed to connect over Bluetooth (as well as the same wifi), but it denies connection stating connection with Mac Studio isn't possible. Mirroring over iPad to Mac works, but another way no, Mac doesn't recognize iPad. Any solutions? And yes, both run the latest Os, are on the same Wifi, turned on, unlocked...

hey so i never solved the problem of connecting them via bluetooth, but it turns out sidecar works anyways!
