Wallet App missing and can’t open on kids Apple Watch family setup

This isn’t a question but hopefully helpful information for others who end up in this situation.

I have setup an Apple Watch SE using family setup for our son under 13. Enabled Apple Cash and transferred money to his account. Can see the Apple Cash on his watch in Settings under his id and device. But there is no Wallet app in the app list/grid and in the App Store the Wallet app shows as downloaded but tapping Open does nothing.

Searching this issue returned a number of other people who posted this same question/issue. What I finally discovered is that in the Screentime settings for our son, under Content & Privacy Restrictions, Allowed Apps, Wallet had been turned off, ie not allowed.

Once I toggled that on, Wallet app is displayed and working as desired. Since Steve Jobs passing, Apple’s products and OS have become more and more cluttered, cumbersome and confusing. There are so many settings in so many different menus that devices are the opposite of simple and intuitive unfortunately. And I am an ex-IT professional.

Hope this may save someone the hour of frustration I just had with this configuration issue.
