how to ID an unknown text sender?

I often receive text messages from unknown senders; is there a way to use the sender's 6 digit number to acquire the name of the sender?

Texts from unknown senders are plentiful I have "filter texts from unknown senders" turned on, but I'm still regularly receiving texts from numbers I've never seen before -- and they have no option to "Report as Spam." If a text comes in from a number that's not in my contacts, which I've never interacted with before, I should ALWAYS have the option to report it as spam - it usually is.

Unknown and never-sent outgoing text messages For the last few months I have to pay for some outgoing text messages to Dominican Republic and the phone number is 849 755 32975 which i never sent. I don't even have such a number inside my contact list and i can not find or see any of these messages inside all my message histories, and see what messages being sent to this number. The only way I find out this problem is to look into my monthly phone detail usage bill. I talked to Bell phone company provider a few times. They could not help me about this issue since they are outgoing text messages they could not block them. How could they use my phone to send these messages that I could not see and have any control of? I need your help on how to stop it before it becomes a more serious problem and out of my control, please. Thanks a lot. K.S

Hello basil9953,

You can try searching the number online and seeing if anything comes up. It is always advised not to interact with unknown senders. Do not click on any links or attachments. You should block the sender though.

I am receiving unwanted text messages asking me to gamble, I want to reply to the text message to tell them to stop and block further unwanted text messages coming through

how do I find their number to reply to the unwanted text? I have an iPhone iOS 17.
